Trinity Cafe is an intentional community.
‘Faces of Trinity Cafe’ is a celebration of all that embodies that community.

Every person who walks through the doors at Trinity Cafe has a unique story of their own.
Meet Jeremy.

I’m a server at Cappy’s Tampa Palms and a musician. [I play] guitar and keyboard. I’m a solo artist and I have backing musicians.

During September, there were 5 Mondays and every Monday, Cappy’s donated 10% of their sales and then I gave 10% of my tips. It was a lot of fun!

I found out about Trinity Cafe back at the time when the Ferguson stuff was happening. At that time, in addition to Cappy’s, I was working at the casino. I was in the breakroom. I looked at the TV and all the looting was going on. Someone sitting next to me said nothing good will come of this. I said this is gonna inspire me to do something good. So instead of doing something negative I went home, went on the internet and googled ‘volunteer Tampa’. Lot’s off different opportunities came up. SInce I’m a server, Trinity Cafe spoke right out to me. I just signed up and I went, by myself not knowing anyone. Shortly after that, one of my friends passed away that I found out was homeless living on the streets for 15 years. For his birthday in October, I got a bunch of my friends to come volunteer. We almost filled the list and since then we do it every year.

I post a lot of pictures on Facebook. I did a Facebook live so people can see how easy it is. My friends ask me about it. I tell them it’s just a couple hours. It’s easy, I do it every other week. Giving 4 hours a month to something good, that’s easy!

I’ve been coordinating every other Monday for a couple years now. I love it! I came to the grand opening [of Trinity Cafe 2]. It was small and I’ve watched the numbers grow.

Just like we serve anybody, Trinity accepts anybody to volunteer. Anybody can come.

Sometimes I just wanna lay in bed — it’s hard for me to get out and volunteer. I think “ugh I’d rather just lay in bed” but I feel like we have to give back to the world. I have a really great life. I get to do a lot of stuff. There’s no reason I can’t take 2 hours every 2 weeks giving back.

Even when I’m tired and grouchy, when I get here I leave feeling great. So it really inspires me to keep in check and realize how great my own life is and hopefully make other people’s lives better
